Embodied Breathwork

An trauma informed, embodied, and shamanic approach to breathwork

Embodied Breathwork is a powerful healing modality that can transform your life

This way of working is called Embodied Breathwork as it combines Embodiment and Breathwork in a unique way that means you can go deep in a safe and grounded way.

The primary breathwork technique you will be using is called conscious connected breathing from Rebirthing Breathwork. It is the same core technique used in all transformational healing breathwork modalities and although many breathwork practices can be done alone it is strongly advised that this technique is practiced with support in the beginning as it can bring up a lot of emotions and energy stored in the body.

It is a simple yet powerful way to move out of the linear mind, release limiting beliefs and emotions, and free up the life force energy that was being used to hold them in place.

The embodiment practices used are a blend of Movement Medicine, Mindfulness, Yoga Nidra, and Shamanic practices. This way of working builds a powerful bridge between your breath, your body, and your awareness, which as well as being fundamental to the process is also useful in daily life.

Building this bridge between these deep inner experiences and your daily life, where you spend most of your time, is the core intention of the practice so that it is genuinely useful and not just a one-off experience.

The fundamental premise of this work is that you have access to a vast wisdom that is the intelligence of life itself. The practices we will be using are to support you to connect with that innate intelligence within, reconnecting to your soul nature as part of nature.

Elements of Embodied Breathwork

Embodiment

There are many great practices to support the embodiment process. One of the key practices is interoception. The capacity literally to perceive from the inside. Somatic work and Movement Medicine are both profound ways to increase this capacity to feel and listen within. When in stillness or movement the listening is focused on micro-movements and internal bodily processes.

Breathwork

There are many simple Breathwork exercises that can be used in daily life to improve health, and vitality, boost immunity, and improve cardiovascular health and circulation to name but a few of the benefits. There are also ones that focus primarily on healing and releasing blocked emotions and trauma.

Healing Trauma

Trauma is stored in the body. The memories about traumatic experiences can be recalled in the mind but to release trauma it needs to be done through the body. Just like the animal in the wild who shakes after running for their life and escaping danger, we modern domesticated animals also need to release trauma from our bodies otherwise it becomes stuck there and inhibits our ability to be present in life and debilitates us mentally, physically and emotionally.

Shamanism

Shamanism can be seen as a way of having a direct connection with life and all the forces of nature, both visible and invisible. Shamanic practices can be found at the roots of many cultures as they are one of the oldest ways humans have used to understand their place in the web of life.
